I tried my best to attend the DC Rally, but sorry to say that I'm missing a great event. I'm trying to make it up by contributing a very small amount to DC Rally.($ 200 - Google Order #703505280174212 ).

If you are in EB2, then might as well go for PP for the I-140. Regular at Nebraska is taking 8 months. Given the way dates move erratically, if you get current in the next couple of months (I hope you do, mine is the same PD) you wont have I-140 to worry about, you'll be all set.

I understand but i already sent our media drive to 50 different media , i aleady sent multiple faxes , i already sent many many emails but please advise me what more should i do to convince IV core that issues i have mentioned also effect many who are already IV members , i am requesting you to see Text of Webfax is added acoordingly ?

I don't what how you define "most" but I am EB2 with US masters with PD 2006 and I am still waiting. Many of my friends with US masters are still waiting.

I was reading an article handed over by my Lawyer sometime back - the whole GC process was designed to be completed in 6 mos. end-to-end.
This goes to show how outdated the process is, plus the resource crunch they may be facing at USCIS.
All in all - it's a black hole...only your 'karma' can get you out of it:)

I have seen my friends refinancing, received mixed results.
Few say, can not approve loan because of temproary status (They have no answer for why they allowed last year when purchasing the home).
Same guys were able to get it done thru other banks.
EAD - is not popular as H1B in the financial area. They don't understand. You have to give this as a supporting document along with your H1B Visa and I-797.

I do not believe the 800,000 figure for I-485 alone. It could be a misquote from Aytes. The 800,000 is possibly combination of all immigration related applications such as I-140, 485, 131, 765, etc.
Even during last year when EBs are current, it didn't reach that many applications. I believe Matthew OH is more accurate in saying there's a total of 320,000 I-485 applications.
With that figure, average 2.5 years waiting is in order. But that should not be distributed equally among all countries due to per country limit. I would guess, for India and China, it would be 3 years wait, and for the rest, 2 years.

Thanks for the idea. May I request you to please inform every one here, number of hours that you can spend volunteering for IV? I ONLY contributed DOLLARS, but never contributed TIME and I feel ashamed of that. There are many people who have contributed both dollars and time.
If you promise some time volunteering to IV for all the ideas that you listed, I am PROMISING to contribute DOLLARS for you. Are you ready? If so, please send email to IV core.

So July visa bulletin is out ... we will see comments with frustation and appeals to fight for the cause ... however, this is a prediction thread, so my prediction is that by next week, all affected people will accept the reality and will move on with their life waiting for August visa bulletin or for the next year quota. My purpose is not to offend anyone, but this is just the observation we all had in the past, so why this time around its going to be any different?
Now as far as those three bills are concerned ... at times I feel that they are just pacifiers to amuse the crying babies. We all can see that immigration related bill (fashion models, regional investors etc) are getting passed, but not the one's that we really want. Therefore hearings in the sub-committie and than in full hearings will go on till August, and afterwards presidential election will be the focus ... immigration reforms will take a back seat. New administration in 2009 will have more immediate priorities to fix the economy, war, etc. Immigration will eventually appear on the radar, but only after some time.
So only movement I can see in near future is EB3 to EB2 conversion. That's OK too. because everyone has a right to straddle the lanes. Out of that stampede, some will get approved, some will get rejected, and will create more mess in the system. But that's inevitable ... and if a mass transition happens, USCIS will have no other option to bring in yet another rule to make their life easy, we all can guess ... what that may be ... I think this is one of the reasons why USCIS does not allow 140 premium processing anymore. Now those who are hopefull for EB2, my message is that USCIS can very easily justify visa wastage this year because of the extra load they got from Citizenship applications. Personally, I do not have much hope of USCIS working efficiently.
I am not trying to spread pessimism, but just giving my predictions. We all need to think hard, as to how can we come out of this mess. Flower campaign worked once, but doesn't mean that its gonna be effective again and again.

We cannot expect core members to be online all the time, and we cannot expect to see lobbying related information unless a bill actually comes out. I think what we CAN do is keep the average members like me who want to do something, engaged with things that are within reach.

I consider FOIA is a multifold success. Not only we achieved milestone 1 of $5K, we were successful enough to wake up members to do something after long time. Why do you think the very same members were sleeping? I don't believe IV Core was not doing anything in last few months but members always felt that there is no plan of action from IV. There is nothing worst could happen to us just by disclosing our plan of actions in controlled way like:
1. <<ABC>> is preparing document for final data information.
2. <<XYZ>> is evaluating other options how we could retrieve this information.
3. <<DEF>> is understanding how FOIA works and how long it will take us to get data and what will be the best option to get it earlier.
4. <<MMM>> is working on funding drive for this.
There is no reason to hide even this kind of information. But if we do this, members understand what we are doing at high level.
My 2 cents.

I was wondering which center my PERM app will go? Atlanta or Chicago? My co is detroit based. I am just filing now, so if it goes to chicago, there is a chance that I can file my I-140 before 1st October deadline (assuming the new CIR becomes law) .
